Senior citizens deserve to look great and John Amico School of Hair Design makes it happen.

John Amico Sr. is breaking all the rules. John, who is a senior citizen, takes personal appearance very seriously. As he says, ‘If you look good, you feel better. It’s all a state of mind. The better you look, the younger you feel. It’s simple as that.” Amico, who has been in the cosmetology business for 58 years, has built an empire on beauty. He says, “Whether you are 18 or 80, if you feel good about the way you look, you have more self confidence and will do better in life.  Age is a state of mind, so if you have a purpose bigger than you, then you’re getting up daily knowing that there are others that need you. In my case, that was my mission. Just to make people feel good about themselves and help them with their self-esteem.

On that note, Amico established a senior citizens program where seniors can come in to the John Amico School of Hair Design and receive services on their first visit for 50% off. Thereafter, they can get a senior citizen discount card for 20% off Tuesday through Thursday. Now he’s gone one better. He has a Super Seniors Club for those that are 80 years old or older. They will get 50% off all the time Tuesday through Thursday. But even better than that, he now has the Super Senior Golden Group 90 years old and older get all the services they want for free.

John Amico said “I had a gentleman who came to us for 30 years. One day, when he was in the school, I asked how old he was. He told me he was 99. I could not believe it! He looked great! Then it came to me…THIS HAIRCUT SHOULD BE FREE.  I said OK, that’s it, from now on all your haircuts are going to be free. He has been in many times and still drives himself to the school and has an active life. Then I began to think about those terrific 90 plus clients… they have lived long enough and forged the trails for us. They have earned their right to look great all the time. Who knows they might be able to live 100+ by looking pretty doggone good”.

Your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather or even a neighbor, will receive some great services for a reduced rate or even for free, by some of his terrific students.  John is always on hand to greet not only the 25-year-olds, but the 95-year-olds as well. It gives him immense pleasure to see that these young-at-heart seniors can have great appearances and a terrific state of mind. After all they do know more than most people- so, we must treasure them.  Not only to look great, but give advice to our young people, so they can have a better life with more compassion, diversity and understanding.
