Most of us have never heard the term and have no idea what it is, but you will be seeing a lot of it in the new year. Pinterest calls it the ‘new glow up’. Their 2021 Trend Predictions Report is guessing this will be a huge thing we will all want to be a part of.

But what is it? Skinimalism means more skin care, less makeup. Using products and cosmetics that let your real skin peek through and glow naturally. Will we still use our phone filters? Probably, but you may start to really like what you see before applying that filter. We live in a world now where basic, natural looking beauty is trying to make a comeback.

Pinterest says that searches for how to get natural glowing skin are on the rise. That goes for what kind of makeup to use, too. Less fake is a good thing. No, we won’t stop our current regimens altogether, but we will embrace a less is more approach and learn to love the skin we live in. Now how do we get that glowing skin?

First, you need a daily ritual that addresses your skin’s needs. Visiting your Esthetician for a consultation is essential. They will prescribe the correct steps exclusively for you. More importantly, the correct products to use. That being said, our Esthetics students will be using the Elixir of Life by L’Alchimiste products on clients and themselves. This line has been formulated by French chemist, Sherine Bichara. Her spa line is affiliated with CEU providers, Beauty Schools, medical spas, oncology spas, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, the providers of wellness services and more.

She uses Baobab oil, which is a natural moisturizer, an emollient. It soothes skin while helping it retain its elasticity. It is excellent for treating dry skin and eczema. Baobab oil has a high content of vitamins A, E and F, along with essential fatty acids such as Omega 6 and 9 and Sterols. The seeds, fruit and leaves contain high levels of Alpha and Beta Carotenes and Vitamin C. Baobab comes from trees.

Baobab trees typically live for 500 years in sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa and Madagascar. Some have lived ten times that long and have reached heights of 65 feet (20m) with trunks 39 feet (12m) in diameter. Locals refer to the Baobab as the “Tree of Life” because everything from the seed oil and bark to the leaves and fruit pulp are used. And guess what… it makes amazing topical products! It’s not tested on animals. Just excellent natural skin care designed to give you the best skin possible.
