John Amico has invested a lifetime in creating fashion, education and trends. He has received many awards from the beauty industry, including, 'The Spirit of Life' from the City of Hope. He was on the Board of Directors for the International Franchise Association because of his salon business accomplishments. He has had schools and salons throughout the United States and always wanted to raise the bar for education. The school has been awarded, 'Best Cosmetology School in the Region' by the Chicago Tribune's Southtown newspaper for 2015/16.
John Amico produces a large Beauty Show each year, where the students exhibit the beautiful looks they have created. The Theme is the “History of Hair” , The students present their work to a sold out, Grand Ballroom full of professionals, graduates, family and friends.
In addition to the hands-on education that the students receive in school, they also have 24/7 online access to their curriculum and more! We have the finest online education with portals that are robust with videos. Students have the ability to post their style collections and feature their work, as well as communicate with others in our online community. They also have the ability to create an online resume that goes to hundreds of salons that are hiring, with one click.
Our state-of-the-art electronic programs also include mock testing for all of the courses, including chapter testing. This helps students to feel comfortable knowing that there is an educator behind them, coaching them all the way to the boards. This is included in the educational tuition.
John Amico's group of educators have many years of know-how. They have worked with thousands of students and their experience time ranges from 50 years down to our youngest educators with four years in the industry. Advanced education is John Amico's trademark. All educators are required to participate in advanced education.
Being a world acclaimed hairstylist, John decided to begin formulating his products 50 years ago. Today, there is over 500 products in the John Amico line. From organic hair color to Keratin formulations. Each student receives a complete collection of his line. From naturally curly hair to high lift blondes, there is a wide selection to choose from. The Color Melts, Ombré, and others are collections that have been created through his product lines. There is a John Amico Product Showroom located directly across from the school with access to top professionals well-versed in every item.
Our students and facility participate in community programs raising money for those in need. From donations of haircutting to fund raisers, our school prides itself on getting involved. We also have raised funds for alumni who have had family misfortunes. Many of the events we attend are on location at a variety of community sponsored programs.
John Amico offers certification in areas such as: Hair Coloring, Keratin, Chemical Straightening Treatments, Extensions and Hair Additions, Hair Cutting, Men's Styling/Barbering, Nail Care, and Skin Care (including Make-Up Designory (MUD) Professional Make-Up Certifications).
Our Alumni has monthly educational programs offered to them free of charge, called Personal Achievement Training (PAT). This allows them to obtain free CEU hours so they never lose their license. They are invited each year to our annual convention which is in its 39th year. Plus, we have job opportunities and we make scholarship design team opportunities. Alumni are able to purchase the exclusive John Amico products directly and can earn a great profit margin on reselling to clients and potentially even earn the annual cruise.
Starting in 1983, we have had an annual cruise where we have state-of-the-art education and career planning on the high seas. Each year, one of our Alumni is selected to receive, 'The Spirit of Life' award, which also includes them winning the cruise for one week of lots of education and more. On an annual basis, students will observe award-winning and international stylists perform the newest trends. Everyone enjoys the networking and international exposure.
Our career services team and student mobile app making finding your dream career so much easier. When students begin their first job, John Amico awards them a free membership to access exclusive John Amico products, as well as a gift of a $250 collection of JA products.
John Amico is an icon in the beauty industry. Opening and operating over 425 salons throughout the United States and Asia! He personally conducts a weekly 'Business of Beauty' course for the entire student body. The John Amico Advanced Education Resource Center is located directly across the street from the Oak Forest Campus where licensed professionals come to learn all about business, advertising, marketing and salon development.
